A full-service construction company that specializes in historic preservation. We preserve what makes your building special to Vermont while making it uniquely yours.
Services
Hunger Valley Construction was started with the idea of making historic buildings comfortable and efficient for their owners. With this in mind, we work with building owners to generate the best design, updates, and renovations that are sympathetic and accurate to the historic structure while allowing for modern upgrades. We believe the more comfortable and sustainable your building is, the more likely it will be cared for in the future. Our work is rooted in proper preservation techniques with an eye for contemporary rehabilitation.
Projects
Farm House Upgrade
We worked with the new homeowners of this early 19th-century Waitsfield farmhouse to make it comfortable for their large family. This included all roof, kitchen, heating system, electrical upgrades, adding insulation, and a new kitchen/pantry.

Jericho Kitchen Upgrade
New cabinets and a pantry brightened this interior kitchen space while giving our clients some modern kitchen conveniences.

Richmond Library
The Town of Richmond hired HVC to restore the library after decades of deferred maintenance. After months of rot repair, installing custom match siding, and window restoration, the library is back to being the town landmark.

Warren Addition
The addition of a small family room gave our clients the ability to free up space in their historic cape. We continued some architectural details to make the transition seamless.

Stowe Barn Renovation
HVC was asked to give a major upgrade to this barn that had been converted to a residence in the 70's. The project included new windows, siding, roof, flooring, structural support, and a custom-built kitchen. The transformation was simply incredible.

Endless Windows
We always have windows being restored in the shop. Whether they are from Calvin Coolidge's birthplace or a barn gable peak, there is nothing as beautiful as restored historic windows.
